MUZAFFARABAD — A grand Thanksgiving Day ceremony was held in the capital on Thursday to mark the first anniversary Pakistan’s decisive victory in Marka-e-Haq against India. The event, commemorating the completion of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, paid solemn tribute to the sacrifices of the nation’s martyrs while celebrating national resilience.
Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Faisal Mumtaz Rathore attended as the special guest, joined by a host of senior officials. The gathering included General Officer Commanding Chinar Division, President of Pakistan Peoples Party Azad Kashmir Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin, Senior Minister Mian Abdul Waheed, ministers Chaudhry Yasir Sultan, Syed Bazal Ali Naqvi, and Ms Nabila Ayub. Chief Secretary Khushal Khan, IG Liaquat Ali Malik, and other senior civil and military leaders were also present.
A Stirring Tribute Through Music and Performance
The atmosphere turned electric as Pakistan’s renowned singers Ali Azmat and Aima Baig took the stage, delivering powerful national songs that resonated deeply with the audience. The performances were complemented by captivating tableaus presented by children, which drew heartfelt applause and added a poignant touch to the commemorations. National cricketer Muhammad Haris also made a notable appearance, underlining the event’s broad national significance.
Local talent was equally celebrated, with singers Raja Imran, Abdul Basit, and Natasha Khan contributing stirring performances that reflected the cultural spirit of the region.

In a deeply moving segment, the Prime Minister and the Commanding Officer of Chinar Division distributed commemorative shields among the families of the martyrs. The gesture served as a powerful salute to their immense loss and unwavering courage, with officials acknowledging that the nation’s security is built upon such sacrifices.
The ceremony concluded with a magnificent fireworks display that illuminated the night sky over Muzaffarabad, symbolizing the triumph and unity of the nation.

Similar celebrations were organized in other districts and tehsils of Azad Jammu and Kashmir to mark the first year of the successful operation. Ordinary citizens and youth participated enthusiastically, turning out in large numbers to pay tribute to the Pakistan Army.
Educational institutions across the public and private sectors held seminars and speech competitions. Students delivered insightful presentations highlighting the defense capabilities of the Pakistan Army, ensuring that the legacy of the martyrs and the significance of the Marka-e-Haq victory were passed on to the next generation.
