RAWALPINDI – On the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, observed on February 5, the Pakistan Armed Forces issued a powerful statement of support for the Kashmiri people, with the nation’s top military leadership uniting in a call for justice and self-determination. The message, released by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), underscored a firm commitment to the Kashmir cause.
Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu collectively reaffirmed their backing for the Kashmiris’ legitimate right to decide their own future. The unified stance from the heads of Pakistan’s army, navy, and air force marked a significant display of institutional solidarity.
Condemnation of Rights Abuses
The armed forces delivered a scathing condemnation of the situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir. The ISPR statement explicitly labeled extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, and arbitrary detentions as grave human rights violations and blatant breaches of international law. This strong language highlights Pakistan’s official position on the ongoing conflict.
The military’s communication stressed that a durable solution to the decades-long dispute is non-negotiable for regional stability. “A resolution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with United Nations resolutions is essential. A just settlement of the Kashmir issue is necessary for lasting peace in South Asia,” the ISPR statement declared, directly calling upon the international community to move beyond rhetoric and take practical steps to assist the Kashmiri people.
Commitment to Sovereignty and Regional Peace
Beyond the diplomatic appeal, the statement carried a clear message of military readiness. The Pakistan Armed Forces reiterated they are fully prepared to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The message concluded by expressing “unwavering solidarity” with their Kashmiri brothers and sisters, reinforcing a long-standing national policy on the day of observance.
