Pakistan Condemns Extra-Judicial Killings of Two Kashmiris in Occupied Pulwama

Official Statement from Ministry of Foreign Affairs

According to a statement released by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), the two individuals were killed during what Indian authorities termed a cordon-and-search operation. The ministry characterized the incident as a “so-called” operation, alleging it was a staged encounter.

Rising Death Toll in Occupied Kashmir

The Foreign Office noted that at least 18 innocent Kashmiris have been killed impunity by Indian occupation forces in the past month alone. The statement highlighted that fundamental freedoms in the region remain suspended while repression has intensified.

Pattern of Human Rights Abuses

The ministry detailed a broader pattern of alleged abuses, including:

  • Arbitrary arrests and incarceration of hundreds of common Kashmiris under dracon laws
  • Detention of Hurriyat leaders
  • Harassment at military checkpoints and during night raids
  • Use of derogatory terms such as “hybrid terrorists” andwhite collar terrorists” to demonize locals

International Concerns Raised

“The deteriorating security and human rights situation in the occupied territory is a matter of grave concern for the community,” the ministry stated. It further asserted that recent visits by Indian ministers to the region are a ploy to divert attention from it called “state-sponsored terrorism” and to project a false sense of normalcy.

Pakistan’s statement concluded by urging India to recognize that lasting peace and development in the region require a permanent resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. The ministry called for adherence to UN Security Council resolutions and respect for the demands of the Kashiri people.
